Method

  1. Cut pork into serving sized portions.
  2. Heat a heavy-based saucepan and brown pork on all sides, remove and set aside.
  3. Add oil and heat, then add onion and cook until golden.
  4. Return pork to saucepan and add remaining ingredients, except mushrooms.
  5. Cook for 15 minutes and then add mushrooms.
  6. Cover, heat until simmering and cook until the pork is tender approximately 30-45 minutes longer.

To serve

Serve with mashed potato and steamed spinach.

Ingredients

  • 480 grams NZ Pork trim pork leg steaks
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 2 stalks celery, sliced
  • 2 apples, peeled and sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
  • freshly ground black pepper to taste
  • 200 grams mushrooms, sliced
