Throw another pork on the barbie!

As slow cooker season draws to a close, it’s the perfect time to clean up your barbecue and discover a new favourite Summer recipe. Plenty of New Zealand pork cuts are ideal for grilling in the garden so refill the gas bottle and try a few these out…

New Zealand pork steak

One of the easiest cuts to barbecue and so versatile! The length of cooking pork steak primarily depends on the thickness, but mostly they’re as easy as 6+2+2!

Adjust your timings slightly if need be, but for a 2cm thick steak, place on a hot barbecue for 6 minutes on one side then flip it over and cook for 2 minutes on the other side. Rest it for 2 minutes off the heat and enjoy!

One of our favourite Summer recipes is Barbecued Maple Pork Steaks with Vegetables. Sticky New Zealand pork steaks with a medley of veges will be a sure-fire family favourite and the kids will love biting into a juicy cob of corn straight from the barbecue!

New Zealand pork spare ribs

A classic barbecue cut, spare ribs are the short ribs, fantastic marinated, oven grilled and finished on the barbecue for a succulent and sticky fall-off-the-bone treat.

These oven-roasted Barbecue Pork Ribs with the option to finish on the grill are packed with smoky barbecue flavour. The trick is the two-part seasoning – first the rub, then the sticky sauce.

New Zealand pork belly

Perfect for a special occasion or a summery Sunday roast alternative, pork belly on the barbecue is sensational. Cooked on the rotisserie, smoky Lemon, Coriander and Garlic Porchetta with crunchy crackling will leave your guests wanting more! Alternatively, slice and dice it for Pork belly burnt ends with honey, chilli and caramel sauce – a real showstopper!
