Bacon & Cheese Scrolls

A Kiwi classic that are sure to be gobbled up in an instant! Kids love getting involved in making these.

200g New Zealand streaky bacon, diced and fried

2 cups self-raising flour

80g butter, cold and chopped into cubes

3/4 cup milk

1 tsp salt

2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce

1 cup grated cheese

1 egg  

2 tbsp milk (egg wash)

Make the dough

Preheat oven to 180°C.

In a bowl, combine flour, salt and chopped butter.

Using your finger-tips, rub the butter into the flour until crumbly.

Add milk and gently kneed into a dough.

Get rolling

Using a rolling pin, roll the dough into a 30cm x 20cm rectangle.

Add the filling

Spread over sweet chilli sauce, and top with fried bacon and grated cheese.

Roll

Roll the dough into a log, and cut into 12 disks.

Bake

Lay the scrolls onto a baking tray lined with baking paper and brush with egg wash.

Bake for 20 minutes
